Steamrollers & Teacup Rides: Moving From Chaos to Kindness

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

If you find yourself in cycles of being “up” and “down” — at the top of the world or being crushed by it, stop. You’re probably not bipolar or experiencing a mental health crisis. You’re not crazy.

As tempting as it may be in moments to throw up your hands, find the most competent adult in your life, shake their shoulders and say,
“Just, tell me what to do?!” — that won’t help.

You’re stuck on the wheel.

Life on the wheel feels completely out of control. One day you are on top and have it all in hand, and the next, you are squished, pressed upon, crushed by circumstances beyond your control. The truth the wheel reveals is that you were never in control, even when you thought you were.

Who’s driving this thing?

Because it doesn’t feel like we’re going anywhere…

I used to believe that this way of being in the world was inevitable. At one point or another, all things felt like chaos with varying levels of management/disorganization.
