Trust is the hardest thing you’ll ever commit to
We become what we give our hearts to.
The sun comes up every day, and we don’t give it a second thought or wonder if today is the day it won’t.
Even after all this time,
the sun never says to the earth,
“You owe me.”
Look what happens
with a love like that,
It lights up the whole sky
Can we trust people? Can we trust in the divine, the universe, God, etc.? Millennials have shown that we can’t very well trust institutions. They will invariably disappoint us by moving too slowly, remaining unmoved, or just up and die on us.
Can we even trust ourselves?
The word “trust” is a hand-me-down from Middle English, from the word for strength — to believe in the strength of something, the reality of it existing from one day to the next. Another definition comes from the Latin credo — where we get “creed” — and means “I believe…” or “I give my heart to.”
Belief in the strength of something, giving our hearts to the strength of something may begin in the broadest most undisputable ways.
